Chansiri Out, Administrators In: Wednesday’s New Bosses Vow ‘Swift Sale’

by admin477351

Dejphon Chansiri is out and administrators are in at Sheffield Wednesday. Begbies Traynor has taken control of the club and vowed to seek a “swift sale” after being appointed by the outgoing owner. The move, however, costs the club 12 points, dropping them to -6.

The administrator, Kris Wigfield, said the “increased financial pressure” on Chansiri led to the decision. He called the ability to sell the club and stadium together “great news for supporters” and said the immediate goal is to “protect the interests of creditors.”

Those creditors include HMRC, with an estimated $pounds{}$1 million tax bill outstanding. The club has also repeatedly failed to pay staff and player wages, leading to a “deteriorating” situation and the departure of key personnel over the summer.

Fans are “overjoyed” at Chansiri’s exit, a moment they called “bittersweet” due to the points penalty. Seats bearing Chansiri’s name were immediately removed from the North Stand as a sign of the “reset.”

Manager Henrik Pedersen, who has not spoken to Chansiri, met with the administrators. He remains hopeful of avoiding job losses and believes the team can still “keep fighting” to survive the 15-point deficit.
