Apple has entered into a significant multi-year partnership with Broadcom, committing over $30 billion to the production of more than 15 billion chips within the United States. This initiative aims to boost domestic semiconductor production and enhance Apple’s American supply chain.

This substantial investment is a part of Apple’s broader strategy to establish a comprehensive U.S.-based chip ecosystem, encompassing both design and manufacturing processes. It is anticipated to support hundreds of jobs and increase the output of advanced wireless technologies integrated into Apple devices.

Under the terms of the partnership, Broadcom will allocate $1.5 billion towards expanding and upgrading its manufacturing facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. This site will focus on producing sophisticated radio frequency (RF) components, including FBAR filters, which are vital for enhancing wireless performance and connectivity across Apple products.

Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized that this collaboration reinforces the company’s enduring commitment to American manufacturing and innovation. He highlighted the importance of the advanced components produced in Colorado in delivering the performance and wireless capabilities that Apple customers expect. Cook also expressed pride in deepening investment in U.S. suppliers dedicated to advanced technology and high-quality manufacturing.

Hock Tan, CEO of Broadcom, expressed enthusiasm for the expanded partnership, aligning with Apple’s dedication to bolstering American innovation and manufacturing. This new agreement is a component of Apple’s previously announced $600 billion U.S. investment plan, which includes expanding manufacturing capacity, developing AI server facilities in Texas, and creating additional high-skilled jobs nationwide.
